As part of its diversification strategy, the BNP Paribas REIM business line is launching the Healthcare & Hospitality Practice, a pan-European division devoted to the healthcare and hospitality real estate segments.

Creation of an expertise centre based on BNP Paribas REIM's firm convictions about the health and hospitality sectors

The health and hospitality sectors have proved resilient in recent months, largely thanks to solid long-term fundamentals related to the ageing population in the case of the health and social care sectors, and to the shift in household consumption towards more leisure activities in the case of the hospitality sector. These themes have confirmed their appeal to real estate investors.

With almost 15 years' expertise in these two sectors, BNP Paribas REIM is a pioneer in managed real estate investment strategies and has built up many long-term partnerships with renowned European health and hospitality operators.

Building on this experience, BNP Paribas REIM has successfully launched several funds dedicated to these sectors, such as Healthcare Property Fund Europe for healthcare, Plein Air Property Fund 1 and SPA Property Fund 1 for hotels and leisure, as well as making several investments on behalf of its diversified funds in these sectors.
The health, hotel and outdoor tourism sectors currently represent more than € 2bn and 10% of assets under management at European level.

We develop and execute real estate strategies for our clients, covering a wide range of pan-European asset classes. We are gradually expanding our range of funds and mandates to offer investors a wider variety of risk/return profiles. Creating this division devoted to health and hospitality is part of this strategy, which is based on our convictions about long-term trends and seeks to develop real estate as a service”, remarks Jean-Maxime Jouis, Global Head of BNP Paribas REIM.

The Healthcare & Hospitality Practice will cover the entire life cycle of healthcare and hospitality assets: acquisition, management and divestment

BNP Paribas REIM is keen to continue its growth in the healthcare and hospitality sectors, to offer its clients the highest level of expertise. It has therefore set up a dedicated division. This new team of specialists includes people with backgrounds in asset management, investment management and fund management. Its purpose is to manage and develop the portfolio held by BNP Paribas REIM in these asset types, covering the entire life cycle of the assets and identifying innovative investment strategies. This new division is made up of around 15 staff based mainly in Germany, Italy and France, so that it can draw on local expertise and proximity to assets in terms of asset management, as well as pan-European investment capacity - key factors for investors and operators.

The division is headed by Paul Darribère, who is appointed Global Head of Healthcare & Hospitality.
Paul Darribère joined BNP Paribas REIM France as a Fund Manager in 2013, notably for the Health Property Fund 1, one of the very first funds specialising in healthcare property created in 2011. Before that, he was Head of Fund Management for institutional funds and mandates and Senior Fund Advisor for healthcare strategies.
In his new role, he will report to Vincenzo Nocerino, Global CIO of BNP Paribas REIM and Laurent Ternisien, Deputy Global Head of BNP Paribas REIM and CEO of BNP Paribas REIM Luxembourg.

This division is built around healthcare and hospitality, market segments in which we have a significant track record and firm convictions. We aim to offer the highest level of expertise to our clients and operating partners through a dedicated team covering all stages of investment and asset management in Europe”, explains Paul Darribère, Global Head of Healthcare & Hospitality for BNP Paribas REIM.
